Easy face painting ideas for kids: small designs to pick
If you would rather book a painter: from 500,000₫ an hour.

Easy face painting ideas for kids start with small shapes: one design on the cheek, or one little animal on the back of the hand. Small designs suit a child who feels nervous about a first time, a party with a line of waiting guests, and a parent who is choosing from photos on a phone. This guide goes through the small designs in our real photo gallery, how to keep a busy party moving, and when it is easier to book a painter.
Small designs on the cheek
A cheek design is a comfortable place to begin because it asks little of the child. They sit down, hold still for a short while, and the design sits on one cheek.
One photo shows a girl with a white swirl on her cheek. Another shows a boy with a flaming soccer ball face paint, an easy design to ask for: a child who plays soccer will know straight away that it is for them. A third shows a woman with a koala on her cheek, so an adult who wants to join in has an example too.
When you choose from photos like these, start from something your child already loves. A swirl suits a child who likes patterns, a soccer ball suits a sports fan, and a koala suits a child who loves animals.

Designs on the hand
A hand design is a gentle way to try face painting if a child does not want paint on the face. The gallery has a penguin painted on a hand. It is small and has a clear shape, so a child recognises it at once and can show it to friends.
Hands also suit a child who already has a cheek design and would like one more. Ask the artist whether a hand design can be added during the same booking. At a busy party the answer may depend on how long the line is, so ask early.
Keeping it quick for a queue
At a party with many children, the design decides the speed. Our estimate is that one artist paints roughly 10 to 15 faces an hour, depending on the design. So 15 children take about 1 to 1.5 hours for one artist, and small designs sit at the quicker end of that range. A big event can have up to 5 artists, and in 2 hours that is an estimated 100 to 150 faces.
Two things help the line move:
- Show children the gallery before the party and let each child choose a design in advance. A child who sits down already knowing the answer saves everyone time.
- Keep the setup ready: 1 table and 2 chairs, and a shaded spot if the party is outdoors. If it rains, move inside.

When to call a painter instead
When the guest list grows, or you would rather enjoy the party than manage a queue, it is easier to book a painter.
Prices are 500,000₫ for 1 hour and 900,000₫ for 2 hours, and longer bookings are discussed case by case. You can see the details on the pricing page, or read about birthday party face painting. If a child has sensitive skin, tell us when you book; we cannot promise that every colour suits every child. We reply in English or Vietnamese.

See the real photos
Open the photo gallery with your child, save the two or three designs they keep going back to, and send them to us when you book. Children can choose a design before the day, and a saved photo is the clearest way to say what you mean.
FAQ: easy face painting ideas
Which designs are the quickest? Small designs such as one shape on the cheek or a little animal on the hand take less time than a full face. Our estimate of 10 to 15 faces per artist per hour depends on the design, so ask the artist about your own list.
Can my child choose a design before the party? Yes. Show your child the gallery and let them pick before the day, then send the photo to us when you book.
What if my child does not want paint on the face? A hand design is a good alternative. Let your child decide, and do not push if they are unsure.
