Face painting designs for girls are easiest to choose when you start from the dress and the party theme, and only then pick the design. The colour of the dress tells you whether to go pink, purple or white; how long your daughter will sit tells you whether to go big or small. Butterflies for a first time
A butterfly is a familiar shape, so a child can easily say what she wants. The gallery has many versions: a rainbow butterfly wing around the eye, pink and purple, purple, pink and white, and pink. The same butterfly in a different colour suits a different dress.
For a first time, you might choose one wing around the eye instead of covering the whole face. If she enjoys it, she can ask for the other wing during the party. For a younger child, see our guide on the best age for face painting.
Flowers and vines
A small flower on the cheek or a few leafy branches near the corner of the eye are easy to match with a floral dress or a garden party. See more in the gallery and send the artist the one she likes. Message the artist and ask what can be painted, and in which colours, before you decide.
Princesses and Frozen
Two photos point to the princess group: a purple fairy face and a purple tiara. Both are purple, so they match a purple dress or a purple costume. For a younger child, a compact tiara design is enough for the princess mood; an older child who is happy to sit longer may prefer the fairy face with more detail. If your daughter loves Frozen, send the character name and the colour of the dress she will wear, then ask the artist which direction works. Matching a dress or a party theme
A quick way to choose is to match by colour:
- A pink dress goes with a pink butterfly or a pink and white butterfly.
- A purple dress goes with the purple fairy, the purple tiara or a purple butterfly.
- A multicoloured dress or a rainbow party goes with the rainbow butterfly wing.
- A cat-themed party goes with the pink cat nose and whiskers.
Age differs from child to child, so send us your daughter's age and the artist can suggest a compact design or a more detailed one. If she wears a real crown, flowers or wings, say so in advance so the artist can choose a design that does not clash with the accessories. If the party has a clear theme, tell us when you book. Children can choose a design beforehand, so show her the photos and choose together. If your child has sensitive skin, tell us before booking; we cannot promise every colour suits every child.
Small designs for children who will not sit long
If she finds it hard to stay still, pick a compact design:
- One butterfly wing around the eye.
- A pink cat nose with whiskers.
- A small design on the back of the hand.
Small designs are quicker, so they also keep the queue short at a busy party. We estimate that each artist paints about 10 to 15 faces per hour, depending on the design. Can we send a picture from elsewhere? Send the picture or the idea, and the artist will tell you how far it can be painted.
