Outdoor birthday party in the rainy season: a plan B
If you would rather book a painter: from 500,000₫ an hour.

An outdoor birthday party in the rainy season in Ho Chi Minh City is still doable if you have a plan B ready in advance. The simplest approach is to pick an indoor spot early, so that when the rain arrives the whole party just moves inside. Our face painting follows the same rule: if it rains, we move indoors. This guide covers how to prepare the painting table and keep the party from getting messy.
Decide early: outside or inside
Don't wait until party time to look at the sky. Rain can arrive suddenly, so choose both options ahead of time and tell everyone. A few things to do early:
- Pick an indoor spot with room for the painting table and for children waiting their turn
- Watch the forecast close to the day, and decide that morning or earlier
- Tell the parents of your guests the party may move inside, along with how to get in if the place changes
- If the party is at an apartment complex, a restaurant or anywhere with a management office, ask them directly about indoor space and their rules instead of guessing
Deciding early gives you time to tell the artist and rearrange the furniture without a rush.

A covered spot for the painting table
If you still want to hold the party outside, put the painting table under cover. For our setup, an outdoor table needs a shaded spot, and in the rainy season a roof matters even more. A few common sense suggestions:
- Place the table under an awning, a covered entrance or a tent
- Avoid spots where water splashes in or the floor is slippery, since children run up to the table
- Leave a dry path from the party area to the painting table
- Arrange a covered place for the queue too, so children don't wait in the rain
Our gallery has an outdoor event with children and adults near benches, a girl watching an artist paint her hand outdoors, and face painters with a boy at an outdoor table. Browse more in the photo gallery.

Tell the artist if the venue changes
If you decide to change the place, message us as early as you can. Have these ready:
- The new address or spot, with directions if it is hard to find
- Whether the start time stays the same
- Where the painting table will go in the new place
- The expected number of children, so we can plan the time
If you need to re-plan the time, keep this estimate in mind: each artist paints about 10 to 15 faces an hour, depending on the design. It is an estimate, not a promise. Our public prices are 500,000₫ for 1 hour and 900,000₫ for 2 hours. Longer than 2 hours is negotiated separately.
If rain forces you to change the date or the place, contact us to talk it through directly. You can find the contact page.

A corner of the living room is enough
A painting station doesn't need much space. We only ask you to prepare 1 table and 2 chairs, so a corner of the living room is enough. Children can choose a design before booking, so when they sit down the artist can start right away and the queue stays short. Tell us about sensitive skin before booking. We don't promise every colour suits every child.
Moving indoors doesn't spoil the party. Set up the painting corner near where the children play, so each child can go back to the games as soon as they're done. See our birthday face painting ideas to plan the rest of the party.
