Face painting cost per child: how to work it out

Why we price by the hour, not by the child

Prices are 500,000₫ for 1 hour and 900,000₫ for 2 hours, and anything longer is agreed separately. You can see them on our face painting prices page. You are paying for an artist's time at your event. The number of children who sit in the chair is not part of the price, so a per-child figure is a way to compare options, not a rate we charge.

The sum also rests on one estimate. By our estimate, each artist paints about 10 to 15 faces an hour, depending on the design. Treat it as a planning figure. Simple designs go faster and detailed ones take longer, so your real numbers may land at either end of that range.

The sum for one hour

Take the one hour price and divide it by the number of children one artist can paint in that hour:

• 500,000₫ divided by 10 children is about fifty thousand dong per child
• 500,000₫ divided by 15 children is about thirty-three thousand dong per child

So for one hour with one artist, the estimate is roughly thirty-three thousand to fifty thousand dong per child.

The sum for two hours

Two hours at 900,000₫ lets one artist paint about 20 to 30 children by the same estimate:

• 900,000₫ divided by 20 children is about forty-five thousand dong per child
• 900,000₫ divided by 30 children is about thirty thousand dong per child

That gives roughly thirty thousand to forty-five thousand dong per child. It sits a little lower than the one hour sum because the two hour price is lower than twice the one hour price.

What makes it go up or down

The sums above assume one artist and children who all want a design. A few things change the result:

• Children who skip the chair. The booking price stays the same, so each painted child costs more when fewer join.
• Design choice. Our gallery shows designs of different sizes, such as piano keys around an eye, a pirate eye patch, a painted moustache and eyebrows, and a pink and white swirl. More detailed faces mean fewer children in the hour.
• Parents and older siblings. If adults also want a design, that time comes out of the children's turn.
• More artists. Each extra artist paints more children in the same hour, up to 5 at a large event. The sums above are for one artist, so message us for a quote when you need several. Our guide on how many face painters your event needs shows how to estimate the team.

Choosing the booking length

Match the hours to the children who will really want to be painted. Around 10 children fits one hour with one artist. Around 20 children fits two hours with one artist. Around 30 children is the top of what one artist paints in two hours, so message us and we will work out whether a second artist helps. Anything longer than 2 hours is agreed separately.

Children can choose a design before you book. Tell us about sensitive skin when you enquire, because we cannot promise every colour suits every child. We communicate in English or Vietnamese.

Quick answers about cost per child

Do you charge per child? No. We charge by the hour: 500,000₫ for 1 hour and 900,000₫ for 2 hours.

Is the per-child figure a quote? No. It is an estimate made by dividing the hourly price by about 10 to 15 faces per artist per hour. The real number depends on the designs and on how many children join. Message us for a quote.
