How long to book a face painter for a birthday party

If you would rather book a painter: from 500,000₫ an hour.

How long to book a face painter for a birthday party depends mostly on how many children want to be painted. By our estimate, each artist paints about 10 to 15 faces an hour, so a party of around 10 children suits one hour, while around 20 children usually needs two. This guide helps you work it out, and shows when a second artist beats an extra hour.

How many faces an hour: an estimate

The number to plan with: each artist paints about 10 to 15 faces an hour, depending on the design. To be clear, this is an estimate, not a promise. Simple designs go faster and detailed ones take longer, so the real figure can land at the low or the high end of the range.

By that estimate:

  • 1 artist for 1 hour: about 10 to 15 children
  • 1 artist for 2 hours: about 20 to 30 children
  • 2 artists for 1 hour: about 20 to 30 children
  • 2 artists for 2 hours: about 40 to 60 children

These figures only hold if every child wants to be painted. The real number of children can differ from your list, so leave a little spare time.

A party of 10, 20 or 30 children: what to choose

  • Around 10 children: one hour with one artist fits the estimate. If every child wants a detailed design, or adults want to join in, consider two hours.
  • Around 20 children: two hours with one artist matches the 20 to 30 estimate. Two artists for one hour give the same number.
  • Around 30 children: one artist in two hours may not reach everyone. Think about two artists for two hours to be comfortable, or message us and we'll work it out together.

Anything longer than 2 hours is negotiated separately, and a large event can have up to 5 artists. You can read more in our article on how many face painters your event needs.

When a second artist beats an extra hour

An extra hour suits a party where children arrive gradually, the afternoon runs long and kids drift between games. A second artist suits better when:

  • The children arrive together and all want to be painted right away
  • The party sets aside only a short slot for face painting, for instance before the cake
  • You don't want children standing in a long queue

When you need several artists, message us for a specific quote.

Our gallery has an artist painting at a table with a design menu, children gathered around a face painting table, and several artists painting guests in a banquet room. For more on setting up, see our birthday face painting ideas.

Public prices

Our face painting prices are:

  • 500,000₫ for 1 hour
  • 900,000₫ for 2 hours
  • Longer than 2 hours: negotiated separately

Prices are by time, not by number of children. See the full pricing page. You prepare 1 table, 2 chairs, and a shaded spot if the party is outdoors. If it rains, we move indoors. Children can choose a design before booking, and sensitive skin should be mentioned before booking. We don't promise every colour suits every child. Quick answers about choosing hours

One hour or two if I don't know how many children will come? Plan for the children who will certainly come, then add some spare time. By our estimate, one artist paints about 10 to 15 faces an hour.

Is the price based on the number of children? No. The public prices are 500,000₫ for 1 hour and 900,000₫ for 2 hours.

Can I book more than 2 hours? Yes, but anything longer than 2 hours is negotiated separately. Message us with your party details.
